How Many Hours Is 270 Minutes

How Many Hours Is 270 Minutes – We’re sure kids need a camp: Today, teenagers and tweens are under a lot of pressure like never before. Self-doubt, peer pressure, and a host of other harmful influences plague children every day. Even children who enjoy a strong support structure will encounter obstacles. The camp offers children and young adults the opportunity to see their lives more comprehensively and to develop critical skills. They explore the great outdoors, embark on new adventures and test their limits through problem solving, teamwork, citizenship and independent action in a safe and healthy environment, surrounded by caring and supportive adult role models. A growing body of youth development research shows that summer camps play an important role in the growth and development of participating children. The results show that the camp provides youth with opportunities to grow socially, develop important life skills and experience the great outdoors in a fun, hands-on environment.

We believe that long-term partnerships to ensure long-term access to camp have the greatest long-term impact on the children we serve: Through the power of our partnerships with GREAT camps and aligned youth mentoring organizations, we can help transform the lives of the children we serve.

This combination of elements, shared experiences, and opportunities has a transformative effect on the children we serve—that is the power of the camp experience, and it can last a lifetime by helping youth meet the challenges ahead.

JACF has embarked on a multi-year, results-oriented research project to collect data from our camp participants and their parents or guardians to assess the camp’s impact on NINE specific skills that help build successful members of society.

When I returned from the camp, I was amazed at how grown up and independent my son had become. He knows the responsibility he has to take on and he takes it on. Learning has always been relatively difficult for my son due to his learning disability, but this year he is enjoying his classes more and showing more interest in them. He’s always been good at working in groups, largely because he’s someone who puts the needs of others ahead of his own, but I’ve seen his transformation in a group environment. It used to be more of a supporter/helper, but is now more of a leader in group situations. I think the confidence he’s gained is incredible and it’s helping him in so many different aspects of his life. It is exciting to see how he has developed and grown over the 5 years he has been a camper with JACF Campership.

Our campers reported significant growth in the following areas as a direct result of attending last summer’s camp: FRIENDLINESS TO NATURE, PROBLEM SOLVING, and INTEREST IN EXPLORATION.

79% of our 2017 campers have reapplied to return to camp in 2018 – with the goal of continuing the growth and development they achieved last summer.

We work with a growing number of mentor-based youth development organizations across the country to help find highly motivated low-income children for our camp program.

In funding this life-changing opportunity, we take a true partnership approach, sharing the burden between ourselves, our partners, and the families of the children we serve. Everyone involved who supports the success of these children is also financially involved in the process.

Low-income students typically have limited access to summer enrichment opportunities, causing them to fall behind academically early in the school year. Our camp program empowers motivated youth to reduce the phenomenon known as the “summer slip” so they can return to school with the opportunity to reach their true potential and increase their academic success.

According to researchers, children spend an average of 3.5 minutes each week having meaningful conversations with their parents. At camp, caring adults, counselors and mentors help children reflect on choices and experiences that prepare them for their future. Many campers point to the challenges and successes of their camp experiences, including the relationships they formed there, as contributing to positive direction in their lives.
